About Dieta Health

Dieta Health is revolutionizing digestive healthcare for the 11% of the global population that suffers from digestive disorders.

Dieta has built the world’s first mobile app with stool image recognition technology, making the measurement of digestive outcomes (poop) objective instead of subjective. The company recently validated this proprietary AI technology in a human clinical trial at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Dieta has been engaged in supporting optimization of results from pharmaceutical and academic clinical trials, as well as developing companion apps for digestive health products.

In addition to stool image recognition, the Dieta app also allows patients to capture high-resolution data on their diet, digestive symptoms, medications, and other factors, and guides patients to improve their condition with treatment recommendations and telemedicine support. Most recently, Dieta has also launched a patient telemedicine service (delivered through employers and direct-to-patient), leveraging gastroenterologists, dietitians and coaches who use Dieta’s portal and AI to deliver personalized care unlike any available in the market.

Dieta is based in Los Angeles and backed by Techstars, UnitedHealthcare (the world’s largest healthcare payer), and Cedars-Sinai (a top medical center for gastroenterology).

The Founder

Asaf Kraus, CEO/Founder

Asaf Kraus, Dieta’s Co-Founder and CEO, is an IBS patient and an experienced data scientist. The combination of his professional experience as a data scientist and his personal struggle with digestive disease drives his passion for Dieta Health’s mission to improve digestive health using data and AI. With eight years of professional experience as a data scientist, Asaf used data to uncover valuable insights for innovative technology companies such as Uber, Accenture, and Trulia. He was afflicted with severe IBS in 2017, which changed the course of his life. While spending months consulting various GI clinicians and experimenting with dozens of complicated treatment options, Asaf observed the lack of data and personalization in modern gastroenterology. And during that journey, he began to envision an AI-driven future of gastroenterology care, which Dieta Health is now building.

Dieta’s applications have been used by over 7,000 patients. Next month, Dieta is planning on launching a patient care service, where patients who use the platform can also connect with a unified team of gastroenterologists, dietitians, and coaches to get guidance and care directly in the Dieta app.
